As the design of this project progressed, Spencer Williams learned to expect the answer of "barnwood" to any questions he asked the homeowners about materials. This home pairs barnwood with natural stone and heavy timber trusses inside and out to give the home the feel of a mountain lodge. The open floor plan makes the home very conducive to large gatherings, which is good because the homeowners have a lot of friends and family. The Kitchen and Dining Room layout provides a long buffet to set food out on with guests sitting at the raised eating bar and at the dining table without imposing on the center island and anyone cooking in the kitchen. The home was designed with golf in mind and features four suites to accommodate foursomes, but works well for bikers, skiers, snowboarders, or anybody who wants to enjoy the outdoors.   

Kelly Warner worked with the pallet of barnwood throughout the interior of the home in the fumed white oak floors, wood textured ceramic tiles, and barnwood accent walls. The Great Room features a massive natural stone fireplace that is flanked with barnwood walls and a metal topped barnwood bar with three taps featuring local beers. Much of the lighting was all selected to create interesting shadow patterns. Ranging from many hanging crystals to a metal fixture that looks like it's made of twigs, they definitely add interest.  

Everyone involved had a great time working on this house and have the added bonus of getting to go to parties in a home that they all worked so hard to create.  

Accessed by a broad stairway, the Upper Floor houses three Guest Suites with private Baths and window seats almost large enough to sleep on. On the other end of the Upper Floor, a Lanai offers a bug-free outdoor space as well as elevated views of the front of the property. Separated by the fourth full Guest Bath is a large, functional Study with beautiful built-in desks, shelves, and display spaces for art work and memorabilia.

Kristy Yozamp has maintained a strong relationship with these homeowners since the home was built years ago and continued to help them find new artwork and furniture because they had so much fun figuring out all of the interior design, furnishings, and artwork in this home. No room is without the rustic, lodge style the homeowners wanted, but none of the rooms are finished the same, which makes for rooms with very distinct character that feel like a part of the greater whole. Generous use of stone and thick, chiseled edge slabs for the counter tops added to the solid overall feel of the home. The wrought iron grillwork on the two stone fireplaces, the hand-scraped hickory floors, the bead board detailing on the walls and ceiling, and the many antler-inspired fixtures, including the moose head, really make this home feel like a comfortable cabin in the woods.
