Tetherow - Meeks Trail
A big advantage to using BIM (building information modeling) software is the ability to create solar studies and design the home in a way to let light in when you want it while keeping it out when you don't. Spencer Williams designed this house with natural light and a strong indoor-outdoor connection in mind. The home, located in Tetherow, utilizes board-formed concrete walls around much of the exterior, which allows about half of the home to be dug into the hillside, integrating it into the landscape and keeping it from appearing to be placed on the lot. The rear of the home features a recessed, private courtyard between a Breakfast Nook and Meditation Room, both of which have access to the courtyard via sliders, as does the Great Room. The lower courtyard transitions up to the native grade towards the back of the lot with an elevated lawn for playing with their grandkids. We are on track to finish this home in the Summer of 2019 so we can show it off on the COBA Tour of Homes in July. Come check it out and let us know what you think of the finished product.
